How to apply to the Community Foundation for Surrey

Charities and other not-for-profits groups

The process starts with submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) – this is a simple form where you can tell us what you need to fund. Don’t overthink it or spend too much time on it. If you have several projects you can send several EOI. Complete the EOI form by clicking the link below and the Grants Team will be pleased to advise you on whether we can invite an application.

The Community Foundation supports the broad scope of social welfare. Our purpose is to help make life better for the people of Surrey. Please read our what we do and do not fund page for more information and our eligibility guidance. See here for our application dates.

We accept EOIs at any time but to be considered for the next round please submit to us by 9am Monday 29th January 2024. If we can invite an application, we will notify you and provide a link to the application form on 12th February 2024. The deadline for full applications is 9am Monday 25th March 2024.

Community Foundation for Surrey Funding Programmes

CFS Donor Funds

The Community Foundation runs regular application rounds throughout the year. Applicants may be considered by one or several of our family of Donor Funds; you don’t need to research all of our Funds or specify which Fund you want to apply to, just send an Expression of Interest and we will advise if we can invite a full application.

Strategic funding

The Strategic Transformation Programme focuses on supporting local voluntary and community organisations to become more financially resilient. This is a rolling programme with no deadlines. We are delighted that we have just been successful in securing some more funding for the programme, read more about the programme here.

Crisis funding

We have limited funds available to support previous grant holders to address urgent cash flow needs. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that a grant will make a material difference. This is a rolling programme with no deadlines. Please use our standard EoI form but make sure you make it clear that your application is for an urgent cash flow crisis.

Mental Health Scale Up Fund

The Mental Health Scale Up Fund is now open for Expressions of Interest to Round 3. You can find more about the priorities for the programme and the Expression of Interest form here. The deadline for EOI is 9 am on Monday 5th February 2024. Grants will be awarded in April 2024.

Grants for Individuals

We currently have five Funds that award grants to individuals. These are rolling programmes without deadlines and there is a separate Expression of Interest form for these funds. We recommend you read through the Fund Guidance Notes on the Grants for Individuals page before submitting an Expression of Interest.

This process can take around 3 months from our application deadline.

You submit an Expression of Interest Form, which is reviewed by our Grants Officers
You’re invited to submit a full application for funding
Your application is assessed. You may be contacted by our Grants Team for further information during this time
Your application is sent to one or more of our Donor Funds who will then decide if they would like to support your project
Our Grants Team let you know you’ve been successful. Time to celebrate and promote your grant!
You report on the outcomes of your grant. The information you provide supports your future applications and inspires other to give to local projects
